Well inked. Well healed.

A tattoo isn't finished until it has healed. Here's how to look after it in the first weeks – and what you confirm before we start.

Aftercare

  1. Remove the film

    After 2–3 hours, remove the film. Rinse gently with cold water, then pat dry with a clean cloth.

  2. Dermalize patch

    If a Dermalize patch was applied, loosen it carefully with water after two days. Then wash and dry the tattoo, and repeat this every other day.

  3. Stuck to your shirt?

    If the tattoo (under film) sticks to your T-shirt, just wet it – don't tear it off!

  4. Healing ointment

    Apply the healing ointment with clean hands or a clean cloth, in a thin layer only. Repeat 2–3 times a day. A healing tattoo itches – that's normal, but please don't scratch!

  5. Then moisturizer

    Use the healing ointment only until the scab has come off, 10–15 days depending on the tattoo. After that, moisturizer only.

  6. Leave the scab alone

    Never pick the scab off and don't rub it – watch out for clothes and shoes. It falls off by itself!

  7. Two weeks off

    For the first two weeks: no baths, no sauna, no tanning beds. Keep the tattoo out of direct sun and don't touch it with dirty hands.

  8. If pus forms

    If pus forms, dirt in the form of bacteria has got into your tattoo. A cream will fight it.

  9. Healed within 30 days

    Your tattoo is healed after 30 days at most. Your skin can still use moisturizer for another month.

Once healed

Once healed, the tattoo may show a few light spots – patches, dots, lines. That can happen and is completely normal. Colors such as red may fade a little: just get in touch and come in for a touch-up. It's free for up to two months after your session.

Every tattoo fades over the years – that's normal too. It can be refreshed at any time. Not for free, but certainly cheaper than a new tattoo.

What you confirm

By signing the consent form, you confirm:

  • You are of legal age (18) and have no legal guardian.
  • You have read and understood the aftercare instructions, and you will follow them and look after your tattoo.
  • We have explained to you what a tattoo is – and that it lasts a lifetime.
  • You are getting the tattoo of your own free will and have chosen and approved the design and placement yourself.
  • If the tattoo is not cared for properly, infections cannot be ruled out. The studio accepts no liability whatsoever.
  • A tattoo is an image set into the skin with needles. It may differ from the template and is not a 100% copy.
  • The photo of your tattoo stays with Los Hermanos Ink and may be published.
